Is ASC a member of IAF, ILAC, or GLOBAC?
No. ASC is an independent, private accreditation body and not a signatory to the IAF/ILAC (now GLOBAC) multilateral arrangements. ASC operates in accordance with ISO/IEC 17011:2017 and publishes its procedures and register.
Is ASC legitimate?
Judge any accreditation body by its operations: published procedures and fees, real witnessed assessments, impartiality safeguards, an honest public register, and plain recognition disclosure. ASC publishes all of these and invites you to verify them.
Will ASC accreditation work for my government tender?
Where a tender explicitly requires GLOBAC MLA-signatory accreditation, no. Many tenders specify no accreditation body; acceptance then varies, and you should confirm in writing with the authority, because some committees verify against recognized registers.
How long does accreditation take?
Most initial accreditations complete within a few months of a complete application, compared with 12 to 18 months common on the recognized route. Your readiness is the biggest variable.
What does it cost?
Fees are structured as an application fee, per-day assessment fees, and an annual fee, with multi-scheme discounts. The online cost estimator gives an instant itemized figure; the written quotation is the binding number.
Does ASC certify companies to ISO 9001 or other standards?
No. ASC accredits certification bodies, laboratories, inspection agencies, and PT providers. It performs no certification and owns no certification body.
How do I verify an ASC certificate or accreditation?
Use the public verification directory. Any organization claiming ASC accreditation that is absent, expired, suspended, or withdrawn there may not make the claim.
Can ASC accredit organizations outside the USA?
Yes. ASC accepts applications from conformity assessment bodies anywhere in the world, under its Cross-Frontier Accreditation Policy.
What happens if an accredited body stops conforming?
Suspension, withdrawal, and scope-reduction rules are published in ASC-AOP-04, an appeals route exists, and actions taken are listed on the public sanctions and withdrawals register.
